We were up bright and early for another full day! After breakfast we headed to Colonial Williamsburg. When we got to Williamsburg, we split into two groups and were escorted around by tour guides. We learned some great new forms of discipline that might be implemented at Venture Academy! Ear tagging and the use of stockades (see photos) seemed to be successful then….think they would work now? We ate lunch at King’s Arm Tavern. Cheers! Don’t worry….it’s not that kind of tavern! We even had homemade ice cream for dessert!
The afternoon was spent watching Revolutionary City, a series of dramatic re-enactments. It began with a moving reading of The Declaration of Independence which brought cheers from the crowd. Our very own Michael Goldsby volunteered to be a part of the army and we got to watch him march and carry a gun. He made us proud!
Dinner was Italian and then we were off to the American Musicworks concert at the DeWitt Wallace Museum. FUN! We watched them perform folk music in a variety of forms (water bottles, cigar box guitar, etc….).
We ended the evening with a Ben & Jerry ice cream run! Yes…..we had ice cream several times today! But who’s counting?!
All in all…..it was a great day! DC…here we come!
