On Saturday, April 28, approximately 30 people from Venture Academy will leave Oakland International Airport for Richmond, Virginia, to spend five days in Colonial Williamsburg, Mount Vernon, Washington, D.C., and Gettysburg. We will begin with the sights and sounds of America at the time of the American Revolution in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia.
After a day in Williamsburg, it’s off to Washington D.C. to the Ford Theatre, Washington Monuments and the National Archives. On Tuesday, we will continue our adventures visiting The Smithsonian Museums, Capitol Hill and the Illumination Monuments. As a special treat, we have be awarded a tour of the White House! We will then tour the Arlington National Cemetery and the Gettysburg Battlefield, the site of the turning point of the American Civil War. Before heading home, we will visit Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington on the shore of the Potomac River.
We will fly back to Oakland on Thursday, May 3. Each day of our trip, you will be able to visit this site to see where we went and what we did, as well as read daily journals written by the students and staff on the trip.
