Support Groups
The following support groups will be offered
by the Outreach Office this school year. Each group will meet for
approximately 30 to 45 minutes a week for 9 weeks.

ANGER MANAGEMENT: Students who demonstrate
overly aggressive behavior will have the opportunity to learn skills that
will lead to a decrease in their stress level as well as channel their
anger in a constructive non- destructive fashion.
SELF-ESTEEM: Students will learn to
tap into resources within themselves. In addition, help will be given
to each student to improve his or her personal and social skills.
GRIEF GROUP: Students who have experienced
a recent loss of a family member or friend. The loss can either be
a death, a terminal illness or someone moving away.
CHILDREN ARE PEOPLE TOO: This group
is primarily for students who have chemically dependent parents, siblings
or family members. This group will provide students with tools which
will assist them in recognizing ways to prevent alcohol and drug related
problems.
CHILDREN IN TRANSITION: This group
will assist the student in answering common questions when they learn their
parents are separating or divorcing. This group is also for students
who are already living in a divorced or separated environment.
STRESS MANAGEMENT:
Students will learn techniques to better cope with the pressure they put
on themselves and pressures around them.
COMMUNICATION: Students learn
to express themselves and gain skills to ask questions to get their needs
met.
SOCIAL SKILLS: Teaches students self
esteem, self-control, respect for the rights of others and a sense of responsibility
for their own actions. |
