Bicycle
Safety 2002-2003
The San Joaquin Public Health District was
here on Wednesday, October 16 to hold 2 assemblies on bike helmet safety.
There was a demonstration on the importance of wearing helmets while riding
a bike and showed a 20 minute video on bike safety. In addition, they
provided us with 50 free bike helmets. Drawings were held for the bike
helmets at both assemblies.
All those who won the helmets were excited
to have won. Many said they would use their helmet.
Alta and Leroy Taylor, members of the Kiwanis
Club donated several helmets to children who could not otherwise afford
them this year as well. We are very grateful to them for their continued
support. The Lockford Kiwanis had to close their chapter last year
but the Taylors have personally committed to continue to help in any way
they can.
Attendance Incentive Program Continues...
The
Lockford Kiwanis ("Serving the Children
of the World") Club graciously donated bicycles for the GRAND attendance
prize for the year 2002-2003. Thank you Kiwanis! Photo of bicycles HERE! |

Oak View School continues a good attendance
incentive program under the direction of Jess Moreno, our Outreach Consultant
and Rita Rabon, our school secretary. This will involve multiple efforts
to award good and timely attendance at school including weekly classroom
drawings form those children with perfect attendance, quarterly drawings
for prizes, and monthly class awards for the classes with the best attendance
rates.
CONGRATULATIONS
go to Mrs. Franke's 3rd Grade Class for the best attendance percentage!
Despite the onslaught of illnesses, her class has managed to have a 98.75%
attendance rate for the quarter! Her class received the attendance
trophy and a snack! This award is ongoing- congratulations to all classes
who came before her and each class which follows!
Keep up the good work!

Also, support is being offered to students
who need to improve their attendance. These students will receive regular
support, encouragement, and participate in drawings for prizes based on
improvement in timely attendance.
