If I Were A Candy Cane
from Mrs. Lawson's Class
If I were a candy cane, I would feel the kids eating me.
If I were a candy cane I would feel the kids touching me.
If I were a candy cane I would feel my friends tasting me.
If I were a candy cane I would hear the kids having fun.

---Katharine 1st grade

If I was a candy cane I would feel people eating me.
Their teeth make me say, "Ow" I see other candy canes.
I hear Santa's sleigh.

---Isaiah 1st grade

I could feel very crunched (if I was a candy cane) because Santa eats me and my friends.
My crunched friends will never be adults.

---Arnold 1st grade

Four Poems
About the
Prairie
from Mrs. Franke's Class
I see the tall grass blowing
in the wind.
I hear wolves howling in the night.
I smell flowers in the meadow.
I taste molasses cookies that
Ma made.
I feel Pet and Patty nuzzling me with
their noses.

By Angel

I see wild turkeys running through
the grass.
I hear the soothing sound of Ma singing.
I smell chicken cooking on the fire.
I taste salt pork.  Itís so salty, so
crunchy, so good!
I feel the tall grass beating on my leg.

By Andrea

I see wild turkeys running through
the grass.
I hear crickets chirping at night
while they sing.
I smell chicken roasting on the
spider.
I taste molasses poured over my pancakes.

By Jake

I see the moon and its shining light.
I hear the wind thatís screaming.
I smell chicken and apple pie that
Ma made.
I taste molasses and salt pork.
I feel the wind blowing in my hair.
