Principal’s Message
"Welcome back to school!"
Dear Students and Parents:
Welcome back to school. We hope you had a great summer vacation and will soon be ready to start back to school with your class and new teacher. This note is just to provide you with enough information to help you get started back to school. Student handbooks will be distributed in class the first day of school; these will outline in greater detail the various procedures, rules, changes, etc. for our school. Class and teacher assignments will be posted in the office window by Wednesday, August 15th. School begins on Thursday, August 16 at 8:15 a.m. School dismisses at 2:40. Kindergarten students will be assigned to a morning (8:15-12:15) or afternoon (11:40-2:40) class.
The prices for hot cafeteria lunches is the same as last year; kindergarten through fourth grade students will pay $1.25 and fifth through eighth grade students will pay $1.50. The price for milk remains at 20 cents. Lunch money will be accepted in the office before school and during morning recess.
Be aware that the buses are not always on schedule at the beginning of the year as the children get accustomed to changes and the drivers give extra attention to ensure the children understand where they get on and off the buses.
It is very important that all students begin attending school immediately as much grouping, orientation, review, new instruction, and socialization start just as soon as the first bell rings. Children not attending school from the first day start behind the remainder of their class. It is more important than ever that children not be allowed to miss school (full or partial days) unless they are sick. Just making up missed work cannot duplicate the same instruction, questions, activities, and rich interactions between students and their teacher, which actually happened in class.
Back-to-School Night is scheduled for the evening of Thursday, August 23. More information will follow later but for now please reserve that evening to meet your child's teacher and review with him/her what the expectations for the year will be. We are looking forward to a successful year. If we can be of any assistance or answer any questions, do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
William Chiechi
